Fake dollars mystery solved – Egyptian gang caught

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: Police have managed to unravel the mystery concerning the emergence of fake dollars in money exchange bureaus in Farwaniya area. Investigations conducted by them resulted in the arrest of four Egyptian expatriates who are part of a five-member gang.

The officers are currently in search of the fifth suspect. They also confiscated five million counterfeit U.S. dollars in the possession of this gang. According to security sources, the gang kept the fake dollars in an apartment in Jabriya area in order to hide their movements and avoid suspicions that might arise in areas where their compatriots gather.

The police identified one of the gang members and arrested him after monitoring his movement. When questioned, he revealed the names of the other members of the gang. They arrested three other suspects and are on the lookout for the fourth one. They raided the apartment in Jabriya area and found fake dollars of value five million. Investigations are underway to determine how much of these counterfeit dollars have entered the market so far, the source of the money and the way it was smuggled into the country.
