Execution drops curtain on murder case – ‘Abdali Cell’, ‘mosque bombing’ hearing today

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4: With the execution of a convict who killed his friend, the fifth circuit of the criminal court drops the curtain on the murder case that took place at the emergency unit of the Ministry of Electricity and Water in Saad Al-Abdullah area where a citizen lost his life after his best friend (culprit) together with an accomplice shot him at a close range with hunting gun (shozan). The culprit confessed to the crime and was charged with first degree murder. He admitted during the investigation and crossexamination to shooting his best friend based on suspicion of having an affair with his divorcee. The defense team requested their client to undergo psychological tests but the tests indicated he was in good state of mind, so he was made responsible for his actions. Representing the victim lawyer Sultan Al- Mindeel stressed that justice has been served.

Hearing today: The Criminal Court presided over by Judge Muhammad Al-Dueij will today listen to the defense witnesses in the case no. 55/2015 in relation to the “Abdali Cell” case, in which 26 individuals have been accused of carrying out hostile acts against the State of Kuwait in possession of firearms, guns, ammunition and eavesdropping devices. Meanwhile, the court of Appeals presided over by Judge Hani Al-Hamdan will today look into the case involving the bombing of Al-Sadiq Mosque.

10kg pot seized: An Asian woman was arrested at Kuwait International Airport for attempting to smuggle 10 kilograms of marijuana into the country, says Al-Seyassah. According to sources, customs officers were checking the luggage of passengers who arrived at the airport from an Asian country. They checked the luggage of an Asian woman to find 10 kilograms of marijuana. When they questioned her, she confessed that she was planning to sell the marijuana to her clients. Meanwhile, an Asian expatriate was also arrested at Kuwait International Airport for attempting to smuggle 250 grams of marijuana into the country. Both suspects were referred with the marijuana to the Directorate General for Drug Control for necessary legal action against them.

10 cases recorded: The Al-Adan hospital has recorded 10 cases of swine flu (H1N1) over the past two months, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting knowledgeable health sources. The same sources said one of the infected persons is in the hospital’s intensive care unit and his condition is believed to be critical. The sources pointed other patients in the hospital have received the necessary treatment and some of them have been discharged while others continue to be treated at the hospital.

Police attacked: Police are looking for an unidentified Kuwaiti youth for making stunts with his Jeep, resisting arrest and attacking police, reports Al-Anba daily. This happened when a Kuwaiti informed the Sulaibiya Police Station and securitymen went to arrest the suspect. When police went to arrest him, he drove off chased by police and stopped in front of his home. He then attacked the police with a baton with help of his brothers and the mother heaped abuses on the securitymen. Police have reportedly impounded the vehicle.

Reckless motorists: A security source said that the Interior Ministry has decided to form a squad which will be headed by Acting Director-General of the Ahmadi Security Directorate Brigadier Abdullah Sahah to track down reckless motorists who are said to be endangering the lives of other motorists, reports Al-Anba daily.
