KUWAIT CITY, March 17: In response to the circular which has been issued by the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) that certificates of engineers must be approved by the Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE), the Egyptian Embassy represented by Consul-General Hwaida Issam met with the Association of Egyptian Engineers, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The Jordanian engineers’ representatives in Kuwait are scheduled to meet tomorrow with their country’s ambassador to discuss the issue of non-recognition of about 7 universities by the Kuwaiti Society of Engineers due to the failure to pay the fees to the Union of Arab Engineers, in spite of Kuwait’s recognition of their universities and engineering colleges.

Several meetings are expected to be held with the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Subeeh next week to demand delay in the imposition of the decision for several months, to help some of the Jordanian and Egyptian universities to rectify their situations, especially the government universities. In this context, the Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE) told Al Qabas that its procedures of accrediting engineering certificates for residents in the country are based on the examination of the bachelor’s degree, to ensure whether the university is accredited according to the global accreditation standards.

The society added the certificates are examined and supervised directly by the University of Kuwait —- the certificates issued by universities which are currently accredited and a certificate ‘to whom it may concern’ is issued to the graduates of accredited universities on the same day.
