Customs officials counting the number of pills seized

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: An Egyptian expatriate was arrested in possession of 14,334 Tremadol pills. According to sources, when customs officers received information about a truck arriving from Egypt with large quantities of fruits and vegetables as well as drugs, they coordinated with the Drugs Control General Department (DCGD), seized the truck and inspected it to find the drugs. When they questioned the driver, he confessed to smuggling the drugs for selling in Kuwait. He was referred with the confiscated Tremadol pills to DCGD for necessary legal action.

Food items seized: The Arab drivers of two heavy vehicles were arrested for attempting to smuggle large quantities of commodities subsidized by the Kuwaiti government for its citizens as well as 90 latest smartphones out of the country, reports Al-Seyassah daily Salmi Customs Supervisor Mater Al- Saeedi explained that customs officers at Salmi border checkpoint suspected two heavy vehicles that were heading to the same Arab country and inspected them to find large quantities of milk powder, rice, oil, tomato paste and other commodities that are subsidized by the Kuwaiti government for its citizens, as well as 90 latest smartphones. He expressed appreciation for the level of alertness of Salmi customs officers, revealing that the drivers were referred with the confiscated items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
