Customs seizes 500 kilos of prohibited tobacco

KUWAIT CITY, May 27: Within the framework and commitment of all customs outlets to implement the instructions of the Director General of the General Administration of Customs, Counselor Jamal Al- Jalawi, to facilitate the entry of all goods, food commodities, medical supplies, etc. without prejudice to the security inspection in order to prevent the smuggling of banned substances during these exceptional circumstances that Kuwait passes through, Kuwait customs men were able to thwart an attempt to smuggle about 500 kilos of prohibited tobacco coming from a Gulf country.

The air customs inspector suspected the contents of a shipment coming from a Gulf country and found the tobacco. The daily added, legal action has been initiated against the importer.

It is noteworthy to mention that the Occupational Health Department of the Ministry of Health, as well as the Ministry of Commerce prohibits the import and trade of such substances.
