KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19: The Criminal Court acquitted a citizen, in his 20s, of possessing hashish and intoxicants for consumption. According to the case file, security operatives were patrolling the area when they noticed the citizen acting suspiciously behind a famous shopping mall in Salmiya, so they ordered him to stop for identification.

After noticing that the suspect was hiding one hand, they asked him why and he was forced to confess that he was his hiding car key as he was afraid they would inspect his car where he kept illegal drugs. The officers checked the car thoroughly, resulting in the discovery of a grey scale with inscription 40 grams and another bag with hashish.

They also found a transparent sachet inside a medium size bag containing substances suspected to be drugs. However, the defendant’s lawyer, Attorney Abdul-Mohsen Al-Qattan, argued that the inspection of his client’s car and arrest were wrong procedures because they were done without a warrant. He said his client did not do anything for the officers to stop him for identification and inspection.
