‘Cop’ caught in mobile phone theft

KUWAIT CITY, June 6: An Arab expatriate was arrested in Andalous area for impersonating police by wearing the uniform of police officers from Ministry of Interior and stealing mobile phones and accessories from mobile phone stores, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Public Relations and Security Media Department of Ministry of Interior explained that securitymen suspected an officer of Ministry of Interior after noticing his nervousness upon seeing them.

They asked him for his military ID but he did not have one, and it was discovered that he does not work for Ministry of Interior. He was taken to Andalous Police Station where investigations were held. It was discovered that he has been stealing mobile phones by going to mobile phone stores wearing police uniform and running off with mobile phones and accessories without paying for them. He revealed that he has carried out many such thefts in the same way. The suspect took securitymen to the place where he hid some of the stolen mobile phones and accessories as well as the shops where he sold the stolen items and the shops from where he stole. He revealed that he usually goes to unlicensed shops because the owners of those shops cannot file theft cases.

Andalous Police Station then summoned the owners of the shops from where the suspect stole mobile phones so that they could identify him. The suspect was referred with the stolen items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
