To all students in Kuwait who have officially received Ministry of Education scholarships to study in the United States, congratulations! All your hard work and dedication during the last four years in high school has paid off.

Receiving a scholarship to continue your higher education abroad is a significant accomplishment. It is also the key to a bright future.

Since the 1950s, when Kuwait realized that a world-class education was pivotal to securing the future of the country, five generations of Kuwaiti men and women selected the United States as their destination for university education. Last year, some 12,300 undergraduate and graduate Kuwaiti students were studying on US campuses in almost every state in the country. You will continue that legacy.

The top quality and variety of options in the United States are unmatched: private and public colleges and universities, all fields of education, and great cities in which to study throughout the country, America has much to offer you.

As Kuwaitis before you did, you should understand that the American educational experience transcends the classroom. You should take advantage of the freedom and opportunity to travel around the country, exchanging ideas and enhancing cross-cultural understanding with Americans and others.  And in your own way, you can be ambassadors of Kuwait to the United States.

These experiences will support your growth as individuals and make you more marketable to employers upon your return to Kuwait.  We truly believe in our motto at the US Embassy: “Study in the United States; succeed in Kuwait.” The proof is in those who have studied in my country.

We have made the student visa process easy, and our Consular Section will be happy to facilitate your visa.  Information about the process and maintaining your student status is available at http://travel.state.gov,ustraveldocs.com/kw, and studyinthestates.dhs.gov.

Our EducationUSA adviser Carine Nassrallah stands ready to answer questions. You can contact her via email at [email protected].  Carine can help you find the right academic program for you, undergraduate or graduate.

Please follow us and check our Instagram account (USEmbassyQ8) for information about our upcoming “Student Visa Days,” which are specially designated days for students planning to study in the United States.  Our Consular and Public Affairs staff are pleased to work together with the National Union of Kuwaiti Students to facilitate the process of applying for visas and the distribution of information about studying in the United States.

As the US Ambassador to Kuwait, I encourage those of you who have received offers of admission to accept this life-changing opportunity and join your peers in experiencing the unique value of an American higher education. For those of you who already have chosen to study in the America, I thank you.  We welcome you and wish you success.
