KUWAIT CITY, May 30: It looks like the chicken shortage crisis is no longer confined to the traditional ration card holders, but it has taken into its fold the so-called frontline workers who are eligible for free ration for a period of time because the concerned authority is running short on this products and has to temporarily stop the exercise until the commodity is available, reports Al-Rai daily.

In this regard, informed sources told the daily many frontline workers were informed, when they visited the supply centers, that they cannot be entertained at the present time due to the lack of chicken merchandise which is part of the product given to them on ration.

The officials at the distribution centers were then asked to disburse the rest of the goods, and carry forward the chicken quota to another item depending on availability. However, the officials are said to have rejected their request, on the pretext that according to the disbursing system all the goods specified must be distributed in one lot and if any one of the products is not available, the entire package will be disbursed at a later time.
