‘Cattle allowed to graze around the tree hedge of Sabah Al-Ahmad City’ – Regulations being violated

KUWAIT CITY, March 5: Head of voluntary committee for Sabah Al-Ahmad City inhabitants Terki Al-Osaimi disclosed that shepherds allow their cattle to graze around the tree hedge of the city in violation of regulations and contributes to the depletion of international funds, reports Al- Jarida daily.

He called on the State Minister for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul to act fast and implement necessary deterrent measures against the company in charge of executing the housing project at Area C for delaying to accomplish 60 percent of the project, noting electricity has yet to be connected to plots in sections B and E.

He called on concerned authorities to consider the needs of inhabitants for electricity and other basic services so as to improve their living condition, indicating the inhabitants wish the Ministry of Interior represented by its various security authorities will intensify security procedures and inspection campaigns in the evenings to deter crime in the area.

He further held the Municipality and other concerned authorities responsible for piles of waste accumulated in the area, noting laborers of the project contractors discard waste materials on the roads late at night. He also requested the Municipal Council and Kuwait Municipality to activate the names of all internal areas of the city that are currently specified by letters and symbols, stressing the inhabitants need the letters and symbols to be changed to appropriate names.

It is worthy of note that the tree enclosure, which is about 18 kilometers in length and 200 meters in width was planted to protect the city from dust at a cost of KD 6 million. However, it became a daily devour for cattle and sheep whose owners allow grazing without surveillance.
