Brother ‘beats’ Kuwaiti man as Iranian wife accused of adultery

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 20: A Kuwaiti has filed a complaint with the police accusing his Iranian wife of extra marital affair and her brother of assaulting him, reports Al- Anba daily.

The Kuwaiti said his wife quarreled with him and left the house and went to her mother’s house. He added, after a few hours he went to bring his wife back but did not find her car in the parking. So he waited for her for long hours and finally she arrived at dawn. When he questioned her where she was, she screamed for help and the brother came to her ‘rescue and assaulted him. The man says he does not want his wife but wants back all the gifts he has given her.

The Al-Rai daily gave another version to the story and said the man married the Iranian 3 months ago and offered her gifts worth KD 60,000. The wife’s brother reportedly asked for KD 50,000 more and at this time they were involved in an argument and later it developed into a fight. Both men were allegedly armed with knives. The husband and the brother-inlaw injured each other and were rushed to hospital. The husband has filed a complaint with the police accusing the wife and her brother of blackmailing him.

Liquor seized: Ahmadi securitymen confiscated 147 bottles of locally manufactured liquor in Mahboula area. In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media explained that Ahmadi securitymen were patrolling Mahboula area when they noticed a number of people gathered in an open yard.

When those people noticed the police, they fled from the area, leaving behind paper bags containing 147 bottles of locally manufactured liquor. The liquor bottles were referred to the concerned authorities.

Meanwhile, the department said an Asian expatriate was arrested in Kabad Horse Stables area for using a stable to manufacture liquor. While securitymen were patrolling the area, they noticed a man running as soon as he noticed the police car. This prompted the officers to chase him until he entered a stable in the area. They raided the stable to find a swimming pool completely filled with alcohol.

They arrested the suspect, who turned out to be an Asian expatriate, and confiscated 2,124 bottles and 62 barrels of liquor, five barrels used for distillation, 60 empty barrels and six gas cylinders. The suspect was referred with the confiscated items to the concerned authorities for further investigations and necessary legal action.

In addition, the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media revealed that an Indian expatriate who is wanted by law and has been reported as absconding by his sponsor, was arrested in Fahaheel area in possession of 53 bottles of a liquid substance, assumed to be liquor. The suspect has been referred with the bottles to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
