KUWAIT CITY, March 20: In a way of celebrating Kuwait’s 25th of February 2017 National Day, Balsam International (BI) organised a special wonderful event for Children and Youth, Fencing Competition — Sports Stars and social developer under the banner of Champion Among Us. Every year, in association with Sport Committee Society, Balsam International organizes yearly tournaments and initiatives at the Kuwait Sport Club under the umbrage of ‘Champion Among Us’ to empower children and draw attention to the ‘Champion’s’ role in society and in the international sporting arena.The aim was to highlight the important role that athletes play as ambassadors, great role models and national icons. The Kuwait Sports Club Board, children, Youths and the organisers rejoiced in the spirit of BI project Champion Among us with fellow members and their families at Kuwait Sports Club Fencing Centre.The event, which is aimed at promoting sports, health, character, team spirit and building positive value offering all the participants from schools and clubs a special opportunity to raise the awareness of sport gender equality matters, social and cultural connections through Fencing inter competitions, community development and other ways of knowledge transfer.Children under the age of 17 years from both EPEE and FOIL participated in a variety of activities that have been passed down throughout the previous editions of Champion Among Us. The Kuwait Fencing legend Mr. Mohamed Herz sponsored the participants 1st Prizes. Thanks to the Fencing legend for supporting this initiative as a true refl ection of a good citizen’s loyalty towards his country. Special Thanks to the Balsam International, General Mrs Shaima Binhussain for coming onboard sponsoring the event. Commenting on the event, Mrs Balsam M. Al-Ayoub, said, “This year we are glad to host this annual event with the support of our Strategic Partners.This initiative comes as part of BI’s efforts to train, groom and nurture younger generation. The event was a memorable one for children.” Mrs Al-Ayoub also said: “This year, the event was a great success and BI enjoyed bringing children together in a festive atmosphere to celebrate Kuwait National day. “We are passionate about helping the children bringing them together to create positive image by inviting champions and legends to attend the event since they are role models in our community and that will motivate the participating children to aim higher in their sporting career”.
