BAGHDAD (AP) – Bahrain’s state-run news agency says the Foreign Ministry has summoned the Iraqi chargé d’affaires in the kingdom over the previous evening’s attack on its embassy in Baghdad.

The agency reported on Friday that an official told the Iraqi diplomat that the attack by Iraqi protesters on the Bahraini Embassy in Baghdad was “an irresponsible behavior that is strongly rejected.”

The ministry welcomed the Iraqi government’s condemnation of the attack, which denounced a conference held in the Gulf Arab nation to promote peace between Arabs and Israelis.

It also said that “those who were behind it should be brought to justice” and that Iraqi authorities should protect the mission.
Bahrain’s flag was raised again at the embassy compound after protesters took it down on Thursday, replacing it with a Palestinian flag.
