Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Iran qualify for the World Handball Championship

RIYADH, Jan 26: Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Iran qualified for the 2023 World Championship to be held in Poland and Sweden from the Asian continent, while the Iraqi team will meet its Korean counterpart to obtain the fifth place to qualify in the main round of the Asian Championship.

In the second group competitions, the Bahraini team defeated Iran by 36 to 26 goals, thus the Bahraini team topped the group and Iran came second, while the Iraqi team ranked third after a draw with the Kuwaiti team with a score of 25 goals for both.

In the first group, the Qatari national team defeated Korean team with a score of (10-0) due to lack of attendance of the Korean team, while the Saudi team ranked second in the group defeating Uzbekistan by 31 to 24 goals. The Korean team is third and Uzbekistan is fourth in the group.

The Bahraini team will meet its Saudi counterpart on Saturday while Qatar will meet its Iranian counterpart in the semi-finals of the tournament. Iraqi team will face its Korean counterpart to compete for fifth and sixth place.
