Bachelors evicted from 53 properties after complaint – ‘Power supply disconnected’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 8: The Deputy Director-General for Municipal Affairs of the Farwaniya and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorates, Eng. Ammar Al-Ammar, said 200 complaints were received about bachelors living in private housing areas from four governorates during 2021, reports Al-Qabas daily. Al-Ammar, in a memorandum submitted to the Minister of Municipality said, that the Municipality branches in Al-Asimah, Hawalli, Farwaniya and Jahra governorates sent 41 violation reports to real estate owners, while 53 properties have been evicted from singles.

Follow-up
Al-Ammar added, in his report of the follow-up committee on the phenomenon of bachelors housing in private and model housing areas, the procedures followed by the committee in addressing this phenomenon is carried out in full cooperation and coordination among of the participating government agencies, such as the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Electricity and Water, and these are the same procedures that the Municipality has been following it since the issuance of Decree Law No. 125 of 1992 until today.

The procedures are as follows – a complaint filed against the property inhabited by bachelors, the Engineering Audit and Follow-up Department in the relevant municipality branch inspects the property to ensure the validity of the complaint, sending a warning for a week to the property owner by the Engineering Audit and Follow-up Department in the relevant municipality branch, request investigations by detectives in some cases when there is no certainty that there are bachelors living on the property and drafting a violation report against the property owner and sending it to the legal department with the knowledge of the department affiliated to the relevant municipality branch, which has drawn up the violation report. This is in addition to cutting off the power supply to the property in the event the property is not vacated by the bachelors and connecting the power supply to the property after removing the reasons for the violation (evacuating the property from bachelors).
