KUWAIT CITY, March 31: Investigations conducted by the Directorate-General of Fire Department (DGFD) into the ‘tire fire’ that broke out in Salmi clearly show it was a case of arson and the concerned authorities have taken measures to reach the suspect. In the meantime, the DGFD said in a statement, fire engines were able to control the fire in the tires collection area on Salmi Road, 69.

Flames and dense smoke billows from the tire dump fire.

The DGFD said as soon as the department’s operations room received a report on the fire, firemen worked their way to isolate the rest of the tires from the burning lot and were able to limit the fire to 200 square meters and were able to control the flames without causing any human casualties. The firemen used the Kuwait Municipality bulldozers to work their way to isolate the burning tires from the rest of the lot.

On the other hand, the firefighting force teams took control of a fire that broke out in a warehouse belonging to the Abdali Agricultural Society, Block 4. Taking part in the firefighting operation were fire engines from Al-Abdali, Al-Subiya, Al-Sulaibikhat, Al-Asnad and Mubarak Al-Kabeer. The fire allegedly was spread on 3,000 square meters and was controlled without causing any casualties.
