KUWAIT CITY, June 13: The Court of Appeals overturned the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to ten year imprisonment over allegations of raping a fashionista.

The court instead decided to refrain from punishing the citizen, obligated him to pay a bail bond of KD 100, and sign a pledge to portray good behavior for a period of one year.

Earlier, the Public Prosecution had charged the suspect with raping the fashionista who is less than 21 years of age. However, he denied the accusation.

Victim’s father said he came to know that the suspect used to take his 18-year old daughter to a chalet, and raped her there after seeing some video clips on his daughter’s mobile phone.

The defense counsel Lawyer Fatima Al-Shatti requested the court to cancel the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance and acquit her client, as the aim of the allegation against her client was to force him to pay money to the plaintiff.
