Appeal in funds case rejected

KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The Criminal Court has rejected the appeal of the Public Authority for Sports against the Public Prosecution’s decision to dismiss the wastage of public money case involving former Kuwait Olympic Committee Chairman Sheikh Talal Al-Fahd of, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The authority disclosed that money was disbursed as a pledge to the committee, but the defendant allegedly committed financial violations in his capacity as chairman of the committee from June 16, 2013 to Feb 7, 2016.

Meanwhile , in another unrelated case , the Second Ahmadi Urgent Appeals Chamber, headed by Judge Muhammad Al-Abhoul with judges Abdullah Al-Najm and Abdul Rahman Al-Tabtabaei as members, cancelled the ruling on the seizure of the property of the ex-wife of an American. Case files indicate that the American seized the property of his ex-wife with the intention of selling it in a public auction for KD77,000. The Sales Department in the Court of Cassation then held a session in implementation of the ruling in his favor as his ex-wife was obligated to hand over the property. However, the chamber overturned the ruling.
