KUWAIT CITY, Jan 28: It is another fun-filled shootout competition as the Filipino Action Shooting Team (FAST), Kuwait prepares for another precision and practical shooting competition. They are all excited for tonight’s competition and everyone came prepared for the ‘Shoot in the Box’ scenario.

In the Standard Category, the main event of the competition, Ludivino Alinea finally got his bearings and from the bottom list last week, he made it to the top this time and proved that he still has the wits and moves to capture the title for tonight’s competition.

While in the Professional Category, it is time for Waleed Al Mutawah to create his own back-to-back wins with his very swift moves and almost got 5.0 hit factors for his performance tonight.

Both shooters have displayed perfect timing to secure their titles with a scenario designed by no other than FAST Sec. Archie Cajucom with a lot of help from team and with Range Officer Wilbert Zingapan who is always present to oversee the competition and ensures the safety of everyone present on the range.

‘Shoot in the Box’ scenario is designed for fast movements and focus on his aim. The targets are laid at the end of the range and covered with barricades the shooter has to stay within the shooting boxes/area to engage the targets on free-style.

At the start of the scenario, the shooter stands on the ‘X’ marked on the floor which is around 20 meters from the target in the center while gun is at condition 3 (both magazines on the magazine pouch and the gun holstered), upon an audible command, the shooter can elect to go to their right, left or center where a designated box/shooting area are marked on the floor with lines.

If the shooter elects to go 1st on his right hand side, there are three targets that are laid-out and position from 12 meters, 9 meters and 5 meters respectively. All targets are covered with barricades and no shoots.

The shooter will engage all targets while inside the shooting box, and the same target goes on the left side. The remaining four targets are placed at the center of the range and can be engaged through a peep hole at 7 meters.

The shooter can engage the targets in free-style and double tap as long as they do not cross over the charged line. Also, they need to avoid hitting the barricades and no-shoot targets.

If you think that the scenario is easy, it is, but the shooter needs to combine his movements with speed and precision. The need for speed, the faster you move, the lesser the time you consume to complete the course.

At the start of the fun-shoot Cajucom told all the competitors that safety was the priority of both the range and the organization and briefed them with the scenario.

An aggregate scoring method is used to calculate the final score for each competitor with a bullet in Alpha earning 5 points, while in Bravo and Charlie brought 3 points and Delta 1 point. The time taken to complete the shoot plays a major part in the standing as the total score is divided by the time taken over the course to get the result.

The shooter can also get penalized and get 10 points deducted from their total score if they commit procedural errors and hit no-shoot targets, they can also be disqualified if they violate any gun safety handling rules.

As a general rule for the weekly competition, the first attempt will be the shooters’ final score although they can elect to make another attempt. If there is a malfunction of any range equipment during the first attempt, the shooter will be allowed to re-shoot and that the first attempt will not be considered as his 1st attempt.
