Alesna shines, JC Nets overpower LCC 79-71 – Hotshots hold off Erpats as Virtuous, Bad Bananas win

KUWAIT CITY, June 7: The PBLK 7th Season continued as 14 teams hit the hardwood on Friday at the Hawally Disabled Sports Club.

The games were headlined by a match-up between JC Nets/Bad Bananas and LCC of the 35+ Super Father’s Division.

Alesna was named Best Player of the Game scoring 19 points off the bench for JC Nets, followed by Ladaban and Dela Cruz with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Rustia chipped in with 14 points, while Rodriguez, Leus, and Del Mundo combined for a total of 8 points for the team.

LCC fought back with Barola leading the pack with 17 points. Nunez made 14 points and Viloria added 12 points. This 3-man LCC frontline drew contributions from Casuga (10 points) and Tacasan (9 points), as well as Sumague and Player #15 with 4 and 2 points each.

The first quarter was exciting to watch with both teams draining shots after shots thanks to consistently-fluid ball movement. JC Nets picked up steam early with field goals from Ladaban, Dela Cruz, and Rustia. LCC countered with good shooting from Barola, Viloria, and Nunez, but JC Nets closed the quarter with the lead, 17-16.

JC Nets gained momentum in the second quarter with the entrance of Alesna from the bench. The team outperformed LCC both on offense and defense and stretched the lead to 40-32 at the end of the first half.

LCC came back strong after the half outscoring JC Nets (16-22) in the third quarter, but this was enough to only cut the deficit to 2 points at the end of the third quarter, 56-54.

The final quarter saw JC Nets push their advantage in the crucial minutes of the game. LCC rallied behind Casuga, Barola, and Tacasan, but JC Nets attacked the rim more aggressively with field goals from Ladaban, Dela Cruz, Rustia, and Alesna. Alesna would go on to make the last 6 points for JC Nets to seal a convincing win, 79-71.

The 35+ Super Father’s Division games on Friday was wrapped up by a face-off between #Erpats N.S.D. and Hotshots. Hotshots came away with the victory, 78-69. Allen Adorador led the winning team with 24 points to bring home the Best Player of the Game honors.

Meanwhile, the 5’8” Division A continued as Virtuous and Bad Bananas each picked up wins.

The Intercompany Division saw 6 teams battle it out on the courts with Kuwait Engineers, KALEXCO Brando Boys, and M.O.D. each adding a win to their records.
