Al-Hilal U12 win 4th Sporty Int’l Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 24: Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal U12 Football Club won the fourth edition of Sporty International Championship for Amateur Football, which concluded yesterday under the patronage of Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Mohamed Al-Jabri.

Al-Hilal won the title, defeating Al-Ahli Club of Egypt 6 goals to 1 in the final match at the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) park stadium in Ahmadi.

The third place went to Sporty Football Academy (Kuwait) and the Future Strikers Club from the Sultanate of Oman.

In another category, Kuwaiti Strikers Academy won the title in the U14 championship, coming on top of Al-Ahli (Egypt); whereas the third place went to UAE’s ‘Foxes’ followed by Saudi’s Qassim Academy.

The three-day championships witnessed the participation of 18 clubs and academies from seven Arab countries – Saudi Arabia, Libya, Sultanate of Oman, Syria, UAE, Egypt and the host, Kuwait; bringing together more than 400 players in both amateur and junior categories.

Also, Al-Hilal’s Croatian coach Goran won the award for best coach in the kiddies category (U12), the best player award went to Badr Al-Bishi (Al-Hilal Saudi) and the best goalkeeper award went to Duaij Al-Shammari (Sporty Academy); while Amman Star Academy won the ideal team award.

In the sub-junior category (U14), Youssef Mohamed of Al-Ahli Academy won the best player award, while the best goalkeeper award went to Hassan Jablan from Saudi-Izov Academy which also won the ideal team award.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of the organizing committee for the championship Ahmed Mudath applauded Minister of Information Muhammad Al-Jabri for his keenness to support Kuwaiti youths and all sports activities. He said the championship came at a very meaningful time for the people of Kuwait – the overwhelming joy experienced by everyone on this land on the occasion of the National and Liberation days.

He also affirmed the success of the fourth edition of the Sporty International Championship for Amateur Football, especially since it attracted teams from almost all Arab countries.

He pointed out that the championship witnessed distinct levels of technical and strong competitions in all stages. He also thanked all the sponsors for their support to ensure the success of the championship.
