KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: Al-Arabi Sports Club has hired a new first team coach – Mohammad Siyam from Egypt – to train goalkeepers after coach Shaker Al-Shatti rejected the position due to some personal circumstances.

Siyam, who served as the goalkeeper coach for junior football team for a period of five years, expressed gratitude to the Board of Directors of Al-Arabi Sports Club headed by Abdulaziz Ashour for trusting him.

He affirmed that he aims to develop the performance level of the goalkeepers through continuous training and implementation of latest training methodologies.

Siyam revealed his hope that Al-Arabi team will win many competitions, stressing his keenness to present a good start in the upcoming Arab-level competition where Al-Arabi will face Alexandrian Union on Aug 26.

He said there are a number of junior team goalkeepers who have been promoted to the senior team during the five-year period that he served as a goalkeeper coach for the junior football team including Ali Jazzaq’a, Haidar Sattar and Mohammad Al-Me’ema who is currently part of the Khaitan team.

Siyam pointed out a number of distinguished goalkeepers currently in the junior team such as Jassem Al-Awadhi, Hussain Hayat, Ali Al-Sultan and Khalifa Assal, adding that he is expecting them to be promoted to the senior team in the near future.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Arabi Sports Club recently declared that it signed a one-season contract with Ahmad Aman from Tadhamun Sports Club, which is regarded as the sixth local deal for the team.

The club also denied terminating the contracts of Ali Maqsaed and Abdullah Al-Shammali, insisting that both players are still part of the team.
