701 new infection detected in Kuwait

KUWAIT, Aug 13 (KUNA) — Kuwait’s Ministry of Health said Thursday 701 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the past 24 hours but no death cases were registered.


MoH spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, in a statement to KUNA, said total registered infections climbed to 74,486 and fatalities remain at 489.
He said the new cases included 500 Kuwaiti nationals, or 71.33 percent, and 201 non-Kuwaitis, or 28.67 percent.


Al-Sanad said cases’ distribution in medical areas were: 209 in Ahmadi, 172 in Jahra, 127 in Farwaniya, 99 in Hawally and 94 in Capital.


He said 118 patients were in the intensive care units, while total patients receiving treatment were 7,898.


Al-Sanad said health care workers conducted 4,147 swab tests in the past 24 hours, raising total swabs since outbreak of the pandemic to 548,005.
Earlier today, the Helth Ministry announced the recovery of 648 people from the virus, taking the total up to 66,099.
