Up to 4,614 illegal residents employed in 4 years in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, March 12, (KUNA): Up to 4,614 illegal residents have been employed in the public and cooperative sectors since launch of a program for hiring this segment of the society in March 2012, announced the Central Agency for Remedying of the Illegal Residents’ Status on Saturday.

Up to 1,903 have been registered in the public sector, 2,030 (of Kuwaiti mothers) in the military and 681 in the cooperative sector, said Walid Al-Asfour, the assistant general secretary for technical and information affairs at the apparatus, in a statement to KUNA.

Process for hiring the illegal residents had been launched in coordination with the Civil Service Commission in line with a program to secure jobs for this category of residents of Kuwait whose names had been enlisted in the 1965 census.

In the Ministry of Health, up to 990 illegal residents have been enrolled as doctors, nurses and personnel for other medical services, followed by the Ministry of Education, 408, mostly in the teaching sector.

Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs came third, 144 employees, followed by the Public Authority for Industry (PAI), 72, the Sports and Youth Authority, 65, Ministry of Information, 55, and the remaining were distributed to other departments.
