KUWAIT CITY, Dec 15: Personnel from the Directorate-General of Border Security thwarted the attempt of unscrupulous elements to smuggle into the country about 45 kilos of cannabis and shabu into the country.
The daily quoting security sources said three men, believed to be Iraqis, escaped into Iraq before they could hand over the contraband to their contact inside the Kuwaiti territory.
The Kuwaiti security authorities have contacted their Iraqi counterparts to track down the suspects. According to the security authorities personnel manning the CCTV cameras placed along the border with Iraq saw three men approaching the border fence.
When they reached the fence they threw the contraband inside the Kuwaiti territory and before they could be caught they escaped into Iraq. The Kuwaiti security authorities then searched the area and found 27 bags of drugs believed to be cannabis and 18 bags of ‘shabu’.
