40 Violations issued for working in the sun on th first day

KUWAIT CITY, June 1: The Public Authority of Manpower raided sites which were made to work in the sun on the first day of ban implementation from 11 am to 4 pm. In accordance with resolution 535/2015 of labor law.

During the tour, Hamad Al Makhial stated that inspection to these sites is to stress on implementation of the decision to ban employment of workers under direct sunlight which came into force from 1st June till 31st Aug, reports Al Rai. The inspection on the first day aims to send a message to the employers that concerned authorities will not allow them to violate the laws and endanger workers.

Those who employ workers to work in the open directly under the sun from 11 am to 4 pm are given notice of violation on the first day, inspection team visits again to the same site after a few days and if violation is repeated the company is closed and a fine of 100 kd per worker registered.

50 sites were inspected and 40 violations were recorded and notifications were issued against the employers. 13 workers were arrested at work sites and the company was prevented from doing any transactions. 19 workers who were holding Article 20 (domestic visa) procedures are taken against sponsors for hiring them and will be summoned and investigated. Penalties for these will be blocking the file and prevent sponsoring any workers. The campaign will continue on a daily basis to protect worker rights and prevent employers from violating law.
