30 illegals held; Bangladeshi porter working for Police station gets drunk

KUWAIT CITY, March 30:  The so-called ‘Quartet Committee’ which was formed upon instructions of the Council of Ministers is said to have arrested 30 residence and labor law violators during a swoop on Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, reports Al-Rai daily. The committee comprises members from the ministries of Interior, Social Affairs and Labor, Commerce and Industry, and the Kuwait Municipality. All those arrested have been referred to the Deportation Center.

Porter drunk: Police have arrested a Bangladeshi porter working for a police station for driving under the influence of alcohol, reports Al- Anba daily. The Bangladeshi, identified only as Safar, was arrested on the Fahaheel Motorway for reckless driving. At the time of arrest he was under the influence of alcohol.

Players fight: Two players were involved in a brawl during the final of the handball match between Kuwait and Salmiya, reports Al-Shahed daily. One of them accused the other of violent tackle and things ran out of control. The support staff of both clubs has blamed the poor refereeing which they said was the prime cause of the incident. Poor refereeing also led to the suspension of the match more than one time.

Drunkards held: Police have arrested 3 Kuwaiti youths for consuming alcohol and endangering lives of others by performing stunts, reports Al-Rai daily. The drunkards were reportedly driving opposite the Yarmouk Sports Club. While issuing citations the officers got the smell of alcohol from their mouths. One to the youths reported resisted arrest and insulted the police officer.
