266,000 Passengers to depart and arrive during Kuwait national holidays

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19: As seen usually on every occasion, the Kuwait International Airport awaits heavy travel during the national holidays amid estimates of the numbers to reach about 266,000 departing and arriving passengers, reports Al-Rai daily. Director of Operations Department at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation Mansour Al-Hashemi announced that full preparations for the travel season during the national holidays have been completed, with an integrated operational plan in place with the concerned authorities at Kuwait Airport, including the Ministry of Interior, the General Administration of Customs, ground service providers, and airlines to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers.

In a press statement, Al-Hashemi said, “Kuwait International Airport is fully ready to keep pace with the movement of passengers and aircraft during the national holidays by operating destinations that will witness departure movement most notably to London, Najaf, Istanbul, Cairo and Dubai. There will be a total of 1,975 flights., of which 990 are departures, and 985 are arrivals, with a total of 266,000 passengers including 126,000 departing passengers and 140,000 arriving passengers.

There are additional flights according to travel procedures, by raising the capacity according to passenger reservations, and operating requests of airlines according to schedules and regular flights of a total of 50 flights.

The Operations Department has distributed teams of workers who will have a degree of responsibility to deal with passengers, provide them with all facilities, and direct them from the airport entry gate until their entry on the plane, in addition to setting up barriers to regulate the movement of traffic outside the airport to ensure there are no congestion or obstruction of traffic.
