25 domestic workers held

KUWAIT CITY, May 18: The Domestic Workers Department and the General Department for Residence Affairs recently raided several offices in the Hawalli governorate which are importing domestic workers into the country.

The daily said during the campaign about 25 domestic workers were arrested for violating the labor and residence laws and working for others rather than their sponsors.

During the campaign one Kuwaiti was arrested for hiring the domestic workers on a daily basis. He was taken into custody in front of one of the offices. Also arrested was a woman who had entered the country on a forged document who had earlier been deported from the country. The suspects have been referred to the concerned authorities.

Those who initially spread the unverified news were forced to rectify the information.
