14 deported for drugs

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: Officers from the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) have uncovered 15 cases of drug smuggling and trafficking while 22 persons were found to be drug addicts – three Indians, two Sri Lankans, four Kuwaitis, eight Egyptians, two Bangladeshis, two Bedouns and one American from Feb 1-9, 2017.

In a press statement, the Interior Ministry revealed the officers confiscated 53,533 kilograms of hashish, 1,738 kilograms of heroin, 3,230 narcotic pills, 550 grams of marijuana and 257 grams of a chemical substance.

The ministry said 14 expatriates were referred for deportation as they were proven to have assisted drug dealers while eight drug addicts were referred to the Psychiatric Hospital. The ministry affirmed that the department will continue working round the clock to curb the spread of drugs and protect lives.
