‘120 vacant jobs waiting to be filled’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 11: More than 120 vacancies are waiting to be filled in government institutions including the position of undersecretary and assistant undersecretary and this number is expected to rise, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources. The same sources pointed out that there is a tendency not to delay appointing senior officials to fill these vacant posts, to ensure the development of government work does not come to a standstill.

However, the sources added, the appointments must be make in line with the laid out procedures, the most important of which is that candidates must pass the test that has been approved by a decree. The same sources said the test is mandatory and doing away with it can be done only by another decree, while at the same time the sources said amending some procedures for the test is not ruled out and the minimum degree for passing the test, pointing out that any modification must ensure the selection of competent people.

The sources concluded by saying the government is serious about developing the work of administrative apparatus and that there are a number of projects concerned with this aspect, which can be completed, including the government training and examination center project at the Civil Service Commission.
