Couple admits torturing maid, flees driving to police station Asian youth run over, killed in Shuwaikh

KUWAIT CITY, April 26: A security source said a police officer has been reprimanded for negligence, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to the daily a Nepalese housemaid filed a complaint with the police accusing her sponsors, husband and wife, of torturing her.
Police were sent to the house to investigate the complaint and during interrogation the couple admitted to the charge. Instead of arresting the couple and bringing them to the police station in a police vehicle, the officer allegedly allowed the couple to drive to the police station in their own car.
However, the couple instead of coming to the police station escaped and now are said to have switched off their cell phones.

Asian youth run over, killed in Shuwaikh : A number of traffic accidents across the country were reported Monday, resulting in the death of an Asian and injuries to several motorists.
An Asian, in his 20s, died when a speeding vehicle hit him while crossing Canada Dry Street in Shuwaikh.  His remains were referred to Forensics.  A case was registered against the driver of the vehicle.
Two Bangladeshis and four Sri Lankan women suffered from multiple injuries when the mini-bus they were riding overturned on the Sixth Ring Road near Kheitan.  Paramedics referred the injured to Farwaniya Hospital, while the traffic patrolmen removed the vehicle from the road to ease the traffic jam.
An unidentified motorist sustained injuries in different parts of his body when his car somersaulted in South Surra.  He was rushed to the nearest hospital.
A 23-year-old Pakistani got injuries and fractures when his vehicle flipped over on Jahra Motorway, opposite Qairawan.  He was admitted to Jahra Hospital.
A 14-year-old Indian suffered from multiple fractures and injuries when a speeding vehicle knocked him down in Salmiya.  He was taken to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital.
An Egyptian and a Bedoun sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies when they met an accident on Salmi Motorway, opposite Jahra Cemetery.  They were rushed to Jahra Hospital.
A 41-year-old Egyptian got injuries in various parts of his body when a speeding car hit him while he was crossing a road in Hawally.  He was admitted to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital.

Probe on cash continues: Police are still interrogating an unidentified person who was arrested a few days ago in a suburb of Ahmadi in possession of a huge sum of money, believed to be KD 21,000, reports Al-Rai daily.
A police source said the suspect has a criminal past and reportedly lay in wait near banks and stole money from people.
The same source added the suspect has admitted to attacking a Chinese merchant in the Free Zone and stealing from him KD 61,000. He also reportedly told police he spent KD 40,000 on drugs and the remaining money was found on his person at the time of his arrest.

US citizen held drunk: Police have arrested a US citizen for consuming alcohol, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the man was found in a disoriented condition in Fintas.
Meanwhile, police have arrested a Dutch woman in her 30s for driving under the influence of alcohol, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
The woman was initially arrested for reckless driving in Salmiya. When police ordered her to pull over, she allegedly ignored police orders and continued driving.
However, police chased the woman and forced her to pull over and referred her to the Salmiya Police Station.
In another development, the Mubarak Al-Kabir police have arrested an unidentified young woman for drinking alcohol, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to security sources the woman was arrested at a police checkpoint.
It has been reported during interrogation the woman said she was on her way to find her boyfriend.

Loose monkey creates panic: The schoolgirls of an unidentified school in Taima, Jahra ran in panic when a monkey escaped from its owner and entered the school premises, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily added police were summoned and it took securitymen about an hour to ‘arrest’ the intruder with the help of its owner.

Two held with liquor: Police have arrested two Kuwaitis for possessing four bottles of whisky, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Without going into details the daily said the suspects were caught red-handed while negotiating a deal in Hawalli.

Smuggling bid foiled: The customs officers recently foiled an attempt by a GCC national to smuggle drugs into the country, reports Al-Qabas daily.
It has also been reported the suspect was traveling on his brother’s passport. The drugs were found hidden in secret compartment of his car.
A police source said the GCC citizen turned to be wanted by law and had been sentenced in absentia to 5 years.

15 youths assault teen:  A Kuwaiti youth who was attacked by 15 teenagers has been admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital, reports Al-Dar daily.
Police have reportedly arrested one of the youths and are looking for the others.

53 expats arrested: During a campaign on vice and residence law violators police are said to have arrested 53 expatriates for violating residence law and three half lorry drivers for stealing fire extinguishers, reports Al-Rai daily.
All those arrested have been referred to the authorities.

Child run over, dies: Police are looking for a hit-and-run motorist for running over a juvenile while crossing a street in Jahra, reports Al-Rai daily.
The corpse of the juvenile has been referred to Forensics.
