Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan inspects the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Project site on Boubyan Island along with the Chinese delegation.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 31: On Saturday morning, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan inspected the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Project site on Boubyan Island. She was accompanied by various officials and a Chinese government delegation visiting Kuwait on an official trip. Minister Al-Mashaan informed Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the site visit is part of ongoing efforts to expedite the project’s implementation. The goal is to develop a secure regional corridor and commercial center, as well as to advance the memorandum of understanding signed last September between Kuwait and China. This agreement focuses on developing, implementing, managing, and operating the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project on Boubyan Island.

The visit also aimed to provide the Chinese delegation with a comprehensive on-site perspective, ensuring they can execute the project according to the aspirations of both countries' leadership and progress with the current and future plans. During the visit, the Chinese delegation reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating the port’s development, linking it to the Belt and Road initiative, which is expected to positively impact Kuwait and its neighbors economically and developmentally.

Ongoing discussions with the Chinese government will determine the timelines for completing the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, reinforcing friendship and strategic cooperation in investment and development. Both parties have agreed to initiate the project by collaborating with a major Chinese government company to gather information and develop a program for investing, implementing, and operating the port in its first phase and subsequent stages.
