KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: Yarmouk continued its perfect start to the First Division League after defeating Shamiya 2-0 at Al-Shabab Stadium in the second round of action. The “Sons of Mishref” remain at the top of the standings with six points from two matches, edging Sulaibikhat on goal difference.

Hazem Haj Hassan opened the scoring in the 8th minute, before Abdullah Al-Shami doubled the lead in the 64th to secure Yarmouk’s second straight victory. Shamiya, meanwhile, is still without a point.

In the other match of the round, Jazeera claimed its first win of the season with a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Sporty at Al-Sadaqa and Al-Salam Stadium. Ulrich Donovan (15’), Matbos Henrique (61’), and Fahad Al-Rajhi (78’) were all on target. Jazeera now sits third on four points, while Sporty remains rooted to the bottom of the table.

Yarmouk board member and head of football operations, Othman Al-Failakawi, praised the players’ performance, highlighting the progress shown compared to the opening round. He credited the coaching staff for addressing weaknesses and emphasizing individual training and tactical discipline in daily sessions.

Al-Failakawi also called on the Kuwait Football Association to coordinate with Kuwait TV, particularly Channel 3 Sports, to broadcast First Division League matches and give greater exposure to the competition.
