Yacht owner released; Filipino and a Kuwaiti detained for 21 days

KUWAIT CITY, May 17: The Drugs and Alcohol Prosecution has released the owner of the yacht on 5,000 dinars bail and slapped a travel ban on him, reports Al-Anba daily. The yacht was seized recently by the Umm Al-Maradem Customs Center for trying to smuggle about 700 bottles of alcohol into the country.

The prosecution also decided to detain the two other defendants in the case, a Filipino citizen and a Kuwaiti, for 21 days and refer them to the Central Prison pending investigation into the case after accusing them of bringing alcohol with the intention of trafficking in the country. In other news, the daily has learned that the Criminal Court has set May 31, the date for the trial of those accused of collecting funds and financing the Lebanese Hezbollah organization
