KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3: The Women and Girls General League Championship for Table Tennis in the local sports season 2023-2024, organized by the Kuwait Table Tennis Association kicked off . This four-month-long tournament features four competitions across approved age categories and involves the active participation of four local clubs.
Khaleda Al-Ali, a member of the Federation’s Women’s Committee and the general referee of the tournament, conveyed in a statement to reporters that the competing clubs in the tournament are Al-Fatah, Salwa, Al-Oyoun, and Al-Arabi. These clubs are vying for victory in the U-17, U-15, and U-13 age categories.
Emphasizing the federation's dedication to promoting table tennis among Kuwaiti girls, Al-Ali highlighted the players' commitment and technical prowess displayed in the launch of the tournament at the Ardiya Youth Center hall.
She noted that the tournament serves as a platform for national team coaches to identify standout talents who can represent the country in international competitions. Al-Ali commended the efforts of the participating clubs' boards of directors for their focus on developing table tennis for women and girls, anticipating positive outcomes for the sport's growth.
The initial day's outcomes witnessed victories for both Al-Fatah and Salwa clubs, each securing a 3-0 win against Al-Oyoun and Al-Arabi in the general age group competitions. Additionally, Salwa club triumphed over Al-Oyoun with a score of 3-1 in the under-15 category.
