KUWAIT CITY, May 1: Hawally detectives have referred a woman in her thirties to the Public Prosecution after she confessed to stealing a high-end Rolex watch and reselling it at a significantly low price to an unsuspecting friend.
The case unfolded after a Kuwaiti citizen, born in 1989, reported the theft of his Rolex, valued at KD 7,200 and gifted to him by a friend, which he said he had mistakenly left inside a shoebox near his apartment. Upon discovering the watch missing, the man reviewed CCTV footage from the apartment building, which captured a woman taking the watch.
Security authorities quickly identified and apprehended the suspect, a woman born in 1990. During interrogation, she admitted to the theft, revealing she sold the watch to a friend for just KD 5,000—more than KD 2,000 below its value—despite knowing its actual worth was closer to KD 10,000. Investigators also summoned the buyer, who claimed she was unaware the watch was stolen. The timepiece was recovered and submitted as evidence, pending the Public Prosecution’s final decision.
Sources close to the investigation noted that the swift recovery was made possible due to the clear surveillance footage and the suspect’s prompt confession.
