When the eyes of HH the Amir welled with tears

This national operetta was unlike any other, featuring several tableaux imbued with the fragrance of history and bearing the marks of creative minds. It colored the present and future with touches of Kuwait’s past in a majestic visual spectacle that every Kuwaiti citizen is proud of. The tradition of celebrating the National Day through the operetta began 54 years ago, and each time, it showcases the creative touches of Kuwaitis who love their homeland, up to the point that they are mixed with all its joys and sorrows.

For years, since Sheikha Amthal Al-Ahmad started overseeing this operetta, a maternal touch has been evident, especially among the children participating in the shows. These youngsters are the ones recording patriotic stories in the book of the nation with all their innocence, for they represent the future generation of Kuwait. Their parents already recorded the meanings of patriotism and loyalty in previous operetta performances.

Yesterday, Kuwait was present in every breath of the children and teenagers of both genders, who expressed their pride in their Amir and their political leadership. This was manifested in the shows titled “The Savior” and “The Lover’s Heart.” Therefore, when at the end of the ceremony, participants in the show wanted to greet the father of all, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, they surged from every direction to surround him closely and lovingly.

At first, the guards tried to stop them. However, His Highness the Amir was quick to allow them to come closer. It was a patriotic scene added to the tableaux featured in the operetta. It was a scene that brought tears to the eyes.

Yes, tears welled in His Highness the Amir’s eyes at this profound paternal encounter. These children represent the young generation of Kuwait and the builders of its future. HH the Amir is their guardian father who does everything he can to secure their prosperity and well-being.

In many of the songs performed by these youngsters, we glimpsed in His Highness’ eyes a glimmer of joy and the immense responsibility placed upon his shoulders, and upon the shoulders of the political leadership. No wonder then that the political leadership keeps doing its best in order to address the issues and remove the obstacles, no matter how big they are. That is for Kuwait to restore its advanced pioneering status in all fields.

The operetta incorporated much of Kuwait’s historical memory, a nation that develops for the better every year. Every year, Sheikha Amthal Al- Ahmad introduces to HH the Amir her mastery in blending love and loyalty in the collective memory of the present generation. The operetta is just like a fundamental material depicting devotion for the nation.

These theatrical performances showcased much of what a “Lover’s Heart” can achieve when overflowing with patriotism and served as a reminder of a past marked by strong national unity, which formed the solid foundation for the present we live today, with great national pride in all our national celebrations. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Sheikha Amthal Al-Ahmad, who oversaw the “Land of Goodness” operetta.

Also, I would like to thank the composers, musicians, and everyone who contributed to the success of this grand national production. The national operetta is an opportunity to revive memories and embody all the sentiments that resonate in the hearts of the Kuwaiti people, who are keen on passing their national experiences from one generation to the next. I was among those who enjoyed the operetta yesterday, which rekindled memories of many events that have shaped this beloved country. Despite the difficulties it went through, the nation remained steadfast, like a towering palm tree in the sky of the region’s history.
