KUWAIT CITY, Sept 20: Reliable sources have revealed that the citizenship of a Kuwaiti woman’s wife has been revoked under Article 8 of the Nationality Law, although she had obtained Kuwaiti citizenship before 1987.
Explaining the reasons and circumstances, the sources stated that the woman, who had no children with her late Kuwaiti husband, allegedly persuaded him to adopt her sister’s two sons from her country of origin. She reportedly convinced her husband to register them as his own sons, thereby granting them rights they were not legally entitled to.
Authorities stressed that such actions amounted to fraud and abuse of the law, which justified the withdrawal of her citizenship. The case has since been referred to the Public Prosecution Office for the necessary legal proceedings.
The sources added that although many citizenship cases before 1987 are treated with caution due to procedural errors in that period, this case was different, as it involved deliberate deception. They emphasized that the woman “did not deserve to retain Kuwaiti nationality” because she had exploited legal provisions to gain unfair advantages.
