KUWAIT CITY, Sept 16: The Kuwaiti Ice Hockey League for the 2024-2025 sports season begins with five teams competing. The league is organized by the Kuwait Winter Games Club and held at the club's facility in the Bayan area.
In the opening match, the defending champions, the Warriors, defeated the Stars 11-9. The Mossadz, Falcon, and Camels clubs are also participating in this season's league.
Khaled Al-Mutairi, Vice President of the Winter Games Club, stated that this league marks the start of the club’s sports season, which will feature various championships across all sports managed by the club for both men’s and women’s categories at different age levels. Al-Mutairi highlighted the significance of this season as it provides the new German national team coach, Andres Bartkewicz, an opportunity to select players for the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, scheduled for next February.
He emphasized the club’s commitment to maintaining regular competitions across all five sports it oversees—figure hockey, curling, ice skating, and speed skating—all of which are Olympic sports. Al-Mutairi also extended gratitude to the Ministry of Information for broadcasting the championship matches live on the local sports channel.
