'Warba' Sponsoring the Kuwait National Robotics Competition 2024/2025

KUWAIT CITY, OCT 07: The activities of the Kuwait National Robotics Competition 2024/2025 kicked off from Sabah Al-Salem University City, organized by Kuwait University represented by the Department of Computer Science in the College of Science in cooperation with the Ministry of Education represented by the Technical Guidance of Computers and the Public Authority for Youth, in addition to cooperation with the private sector.

The Competition comes as part of the strategic plan of Kuwait University in implementing the national development plan to enhance the capabilities of citizens and institutions.

On this occasion, Ayman Salem Al-Mutairi, Director Marketing and Corporate Communications at Warba Bank, said that Warba Bank is always keen to support initiatives that develop youth talents, especially technical ones, noting that the Bank participates in sponsoring several challenges and events aimed at keeping pace with digital and technological development.

Al-Mutairi added that Warba Bank is a pioneer among Kuwaiti banks in the field of electronic games, which reflects its interest in the growth of the electronic games industry. It is the first bank to embrace and develop this field, as it launched the first card dedicated to electronic sports enthusiasts due to the global demand for this field.

He urged the students participating in this Competition to make extra efforts, expressing his aspiration to see them representing the State of Kuwait in the competition that will be held in the United States of America.

For his part, the Secretary-General of Kuwait University, Dr. Fayez Al-Dhafiri, said in his speech at the press conference that this competition is part of the strategic plan of Kuwait University in implementing the national development plan to enhance the capabilities of citizens and institutions, noting that the competitions will be held during the period from October to February 2025.

Al-Dhafiri explained that the competition falls under the umbrella of the National Initiative for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics to enhance technical skills and creative and innovative skills among students in particular at all educational levels and to develop innovation and technical excellence in Kuwait in general in light of the initiative's endeavor to encourage creative and innovative thinking using robotics technology.

For his part, the Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth, Nasser Al-Sheikh, stressed in his speech that the Authority’s participation in organizing the (Kuwait National Robotics Competition) reflects the Authority’s vision and aspirations for the future of the youth of this country, and its keenness to achieve the state’s goals related to developing the knowledge economy and enhancing its role in the national economy.

Al-Sheikh said that the Competition provides young people with the necessary ability to enhance their skills in the field of new economies, which will work to provide the state's needs in these fields, indicating that intensifying efforts in this direction will work to develop the main engine and pillar of this economy, which is the Kuwaiti person, especially the youth.

He pointed out that the Authority seeks to participate in organizing this event to highlight the energies of young people and adolescents in the technical fields in order to keep pace with the rapid development that the world is experiencing, adding that such competitions are intended to refine their energies, discover new innovators and create an environment of positive and creative competition.

He explained that what distinguishes this competition is that it is the first one organized by the state, and it is also the largest and most diverse, in addition to the diversity of partners whose goals and visions have united to make this Competition a platform for innovators in the field of robotics, programming and artificial intelligence, which we hope will continue for years to come with continuous government support.

Al-Sheikh expressed his pride and appreciation for the partnership with the Ministry of Education, Kuwait University and the private sector in this organization, which will serve the national goals of caring for and developing youth and providing all the means and tools required to demonstrate their creativity and excellence.

Mona Salem Awad Salem, General Technical Supervisor of Computer Science at the Ministry of Education and a member of the Higher Committee of the Competition, stated that this national competition is not just a competitive event; rather, it is a platform through which we enhance the creativity of youth and highlight the unique capabilities of our talented students.

She added: “We believe that science and technology are the keys to the future, and that empowering students through practical applications such as robotics contributes greatly to stimulating their passion for the fields of science, engineering, mathematics, and programming. Hence, this competition comes as a driver to achieve this goal, as it provides an inspiring environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.

“With the support of Kuwait University, the Ministry of Education, and many sponsoring and partnering entities, we seek to provide a rich experience for all participants, and to embody a national vision that aims to build a creative generation capable of facing the challenges of the modern era and contributing effectively to the development process. We are excited to see the results of this competition and its positive impact on society, and we look forward to presenting bright models of our passionate students who will become technology leaders in the future,” she concluded.
