KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: Instead of being farmland area radiating greenery and providing food crops for the Kuwaiti market, much of Wafra area – streets and public squares – have been turned into permanent garbage dumps, in full view of the Kuwait Municipality, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

Garbage can be seen thrown everywhere in the Wafra agricultural area.

Despite the Al-Seyassah daily highlighting this situation earlier, it is evident the Municipality has turned a blind eye which has become a big obstacle for the farmers of the area. In this context, a number of farmers and other parties concerned with agricultural affairs have called for an urgent solution to the problem of waste of all kinds that is spread over large areas in abundance, either next to the farms or in the open areas nearby.

The sources indicated piles of waste are spreading at the expense of the greenery. It is surprising to note the Municipality officials seem to be satisfied with the accumulation of waste in the agricultural areas of Wafra and all main and internal roads in the area. The sources have appealed to the Municipality officials to to save the environmental situation in the Wafra farms and surrounding areas.
