MONTREAL, May 16: The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has rescinded the sanctions imposed on Tunisia two weeks ago, bringing relief to the country after a period of unrest.

WADA, headquartered in Montreal, Canada, announced that it had received confirmation of a necessary government decree coming into effect. This development signifies that the Tunisian Anti-Doping Agency has fulfilled its commitment to regain compliance by aligning its national regulations with the World Anti-Doping Code.

Following a vote by the WADA Executive Committee, the Tunisian agency has been promptly removed from the international agency's non-compliance list.

The sanctions were initially imposed on the Tunisian counterpart due to its failure to fully implement the 2021 version of the World Anti-Doping Code within its legal framework. As a consequence of the sanctions, Tunisia was barred from hosting regional, continental, or world championships, and its flag was prohibited from being displayed at the Olympic and Paralympic Games until the country returned to WADA's jurisdiction
