KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs and Operations at the Interior Ministry Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh recently discussed the ice cream carts issue with representatives of dairy companies, Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) and Vehicle Inspection Department, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Violations committed by those operating the ice cream carts were tackled in the meeting, which led to the following proposals:
• Operators of ice cream carts must strictly comply with the rules set by Kuwait Municipality, PAFN and General Traffic Department (GTD);
• Ice cream carts should operate only in designated areas;
• Dairy companies should improve the designs of ice cream carts in line with the safety regulations, Traffic Law and food protection rules set by the concerned authorities;
• Motorcycles should not be used for selling ice cream unless they are licensed for this purpose;
• Ice cream vendors on motorcycles must wear proper gear. These proposals will be presented soon to GTD for approval in coordination with concerned authorities. Once approved, the ice cream vendors will be given until Sept 29 to comply.
