KUWAIT CITY, July 6: The Kuwait Court has granted a divorce to a woman on the grounds of physical assault, after it was proven that she had suffered physical abuse at the hands of her husband. The court's decision was based on compelling evidence, including documented medical reports, surveillance footage, and the testimony of the couple’s domestic worker, all of which confirmed the assaults.
The woman's lawyer, Mohammed Safar, stated that the court was fully convinced by the evidence presented, which demonstrated that his client had been subjected to severe physical abuse—a grave violation of her physical and psychological dignity. In addition to granting the divorce, the court ordered the husband to pay 8,000 Kuwaiti dinars in compensation for the harm inflicted.
Safar emphasized that this ruling marks a significant milestone in the fight against domestic violence in Kuwait. He praised the judiciary for taking a firm stance against human rights violations and urged victims of abuse to come forward, stressing the importance of not remaining silent in the face of violence.
