‘Pay alimony of KD 700’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 7: The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued to hand over the custody of five children to their Kuwaiti mother, and obligate their father to pay a continuous monthly alimony of KD 700 and a one time payment of KD 1,700 for hiring a maid and furnishing a house. Representing the Kuwaiti woman was Lawyer Adhari Maqsid, who said her client was the wife of the defendant as per a valid legal contract and she gave birth to his children who were conceived in their marital bed.

However, the defendant refrained from spending on her and their children, leaving them without alimony or someone to support them, despite his financial ability to spend. This led her to file her lawsuit. In her lawsuit, she demanded custody of her children. She also demanded that her ex-husband pay the marital alimony that he did not pay, and make it continuous. She also demanded the cost for renting a home, furnishing expenses, the wages of a domestic worker and a driver, their recruitment expenses, and the price of a car or transportation allowance.
