South Africa overcome Egypt 8-7
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 18: The National Under-20 Water Polo Team of Kuwait lost to Uzbekistan by 9-23 for the 17-20 places during the ongoing Under-20 World Championship held inside Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Swimming Pools Complex for Water Games at Al-Nasr Sports Club.
The event, in which teams from 20 countries are participating, is under auspices of the National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim.
Kuwait’s goals were scored by Mubarak Dashti (5), Abdullah Jassem (2), and Mohammad and Saud Al-Otaibi (1 each).
Meanwhile, Brazil defeated Iran by 11-8 for the 17-20 places. In the contest for 13-16 places, Russia beat France by 19-7, and South Africa overcame Egypt by 8-7. For the 9-12 places, Hungary walloped New Zealand by 20-4, and Canada claimed superiority over Australia by 11-8.
The next games will find the Blues facing Iran for 19-20 places, and Uzbekistan will lock horns with Brazil for 17-18 places. Russia will slug it out with South Africa for 13-14 places, and China and Egypt will struggle for 15-16 places. Hungary will compete with Canada for 9-10 places, and New Zealand will contend with Australia for 11-12 places.
