KUWAIT CITY, June 12: The Farwaniya Emergency Team at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has confiscated 1,675 used and expired tyres from a warehouse in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily’s staff accompanied a team of inspectors from the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector headed by Emergency Team Leader Jamaan Al-Mutairi when they inspected the warehouse in the basement of a residential building.

Al-Mutairi pointed out that in case of fire, there might be huge human and material losses considering the location of the storage. He affirmed the team forwarded its report to the concerned authorities; leading to confiscation of the tyres. He asserted the law prohibits the sale of used and expired tyres, especially when temperatures are high; as these tyres cause car accidents, which endanger the lives of citizens and expatriates. He advised consumers not to buy used tyres, check the validity date when buying new tyres, and keep the receipt to benefit from the one-year warranty.
