NEW YORK, Aug 25: The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Wednesday was set to discuss missing Kuwaiti POWs and possessions in Iraq alongside preparations for Iraq’s upcoming legislative elections. The UN special envoy for Iraq Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert was set to brief the UNSC members on the latest developments relating to the fate of the missing Kuwaitis, other nationals and the Kuwaiti properties including the national archives.

In accordance with the 31st report issued on July 28 on this issue, Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry announced last month the identification of the remains of ten other persons by using DNA analysis and informing their relatives about them. However, the report said that there were no key developments on returning Kuwait’s properties during the period included in the report between April and July, (KUNA)
