Two bribe officer to free Indian partner – Bangladeshi caught begging

KUWAIT CITY, June 26: Securitymen from the General Residency Affairs Department in the Interior Ministry arrested a 36-year-old Indian on Article 20 visa and his unidentified companion for trying to bribe an officer in a bid to secure the release of a compatriot detained at Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station.

In a press statement, the Public Relations and Security Media Department disclosed the Indian and his companion tried to pay the offi cer KD250 in exchange for releasing his colleague — a 38-yearold compatriot who holds Article 18 visa and works for an undisclosed company. The Indian and his companion were referred to the relevant security unit for the necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, the department added a security team from the Capital Security Directorate arrested a Bangladeshi on Article 18 visa for begging in Al-Shaheed Park along Soor Street. He was referred to the General Criminal Evidence Department for legal measures.

And, acting on a tip-off and in cooperation with the customs officer at the Kuwait International Airport, personnel from the General Department for Drugs Control recently foiled an attempt by an Arab expatriate who is believed to be in his 50s to smuggle 4,000 narcotic pills (Tramadol) into the country, reports Al-Rai daily.

The pills were hidden in secret compartments in his bags. The contraband and the suspect have been handed over to the concerned authorities
